BioTreks follows and annual publication cycle, which begins by schools proposing abstracts and drafting their manuscripts online to present at an online peer-review conference in April. Following the conference, authors revise their manuscripts and work with editors to prepare them for publication in an October issue of the journal. More details can be found in the Guide to Authors. The following table gives a more detailed breakdown of these events as they will unfold during the current publication cycle.
|Friday, 23 March 2018||Abstract forms are due. High school teams must submit the abstract for their papers by this date. Abstracts submissions will include a brief summary of the intended articles and a list of participating authors.|
|Friday, 20 April 2018||Manuscript drafts due. Manuscript drafts must be available on Breezio. At this point the manuscripts will be made available for public review.|
|Saturday, 28 April 2018, 10:30-12:30 AM ET||Conference. Even though the student manuscripts are available for review and edit prior to and after this date, the conference provides a focused period in time when everyone will be online and available for real-time discussion.|
|Friday, 25 May 2018||Manuscript revisions due. Following the conference, authors will have a month to respond to reviewer comments and make the necessary edits to their manuscripts. On 25 May, manuscripts will be locked to students and made available to editors to complete their evaluations.|
|Monday, 11 June 2018||Acceptance decisions announced. Editors will review the completed manuscripts and decide which papers are acceptable for publication in the upcoming issue. They will also award badges to papers which demonstrate exemplary qualities.|
|Monday, 8 October 2018||Galley proofs released. Students will be given a week to review and make final corrections to their formatted papers prior to publication.|
|Monday, 22 October 2018||BioTreks published online.|
